Looking back on the Citizen Science Networking Day 2024
On 12 September, we organised the third Citizen Science Networking Day. This time, we had the pleasure of welcoming over 200 citizen science enthusiasts at Lamot in Mechelen. It was wonderful to meet so many new people and to catch up with familiar faces!
Thanks to the fruitful collaboration with FARO, Histories and the AfricaMuseum, a wide network came together. During the various sessions, the link between the heritage sector and citizen science was explored in depth, along with other key topics such as communication, legislation, and inclusion within citizen science.
It’s wonderful to see so many different audiences here today. We have not only researchers, but also museums, archives, non-profits ... A great mix.
During the poster session at lunch this year, you also had the opportunity to discover a wide range of citizen science projects. The various posters, as well as the presentations from the sessions, can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.
Finally, we also launched our Citizen Science Scan. This report provides insights into the state, nature, and developments of citizen science in Belgium. So, if someone asks us next time how many citizen science projects there are in Belgium, we’ll know the answer!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone for the interesting discussions, engaging questions, and inspiring presentations. It is thanks to you that we can call this day a success. We look forward to seeing you at the next edition!
