Amai! at Falling Walls Engage

From 6 to 9 November, Berlin hosted the Falling Walls Science Summit, an annual event commemorating the fall of the Berlin Wall and serving as an international meeting place for science and innovation. One of the components of this summit is Falling Walls Engage, where projects that bring science closer to society are given a platform to pitch their project. Amai! was also present!

Our project amai! was nominated in the Engage category and selected as one of fifteen projects worldwide to pitch. Our colleague Karen represented amai! and pitched on a special stage: a former club in the basement of the conference venue. Rumour has it that even Shakira once performed there!

Although we didn't win, we are extremely proud to have been part of this inspiring event. The well deserved winner was the Seeds of Change project from Brazil, represented by Nondas Silva. More information about all the finalists can be found on the Falling Walls website.

We returned home with a backpack full of new insights, inspiration from all branches of science and valuable contacts within the international network of science engagement.
