The next Scivil Citizen Science Networking Day will take place on Monday 28 September 2026. The event will be held at Aeropolis in Brussels, near Schaerbeek station. This year, Scivil is organising its networking day in collaboration with Beweging.net and VUB.

Registration will open in May, when the full programme will be announced.

Are you curious about citizen science and eager to develop your own project idea? During the Starting with Citizen Science workshop, you’ll shape your initial concept into a concrete project plan.

The European Science Engagement Conference 2026 will take place in Luxembourg from 19 to 21 May 2026. Under the theme “In Other Words and Other Worlds”, assumptions will be critically examined to deepen and broaden citizen engagement across Europe.

On 13 May 2026, RVO-Society will conclude its anniversary year marking its 25th anniversary. They will do so with ‘Innovation for Tomorrow’, an inspiring event centred on innovation, connection and forward-looking thinking, in which citizen science also has a clear place.

On 21 April 2026, Scivil invites everyone interested in reflecting on the future of citizen science in Flanders. Citizen science is thriving in Flanders, and this strong and diverse landscape offers many opportunities for collective growth. Scivil aims to build sustainable collaborations with the organisations and individuals who make citizen science possible. During this meeting, the first outlines will be developed for how collaboration can take shape in the years ahead.

On 2 April 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00, Scivil presented the new Citizen Science Scan 2025 report during an online webinar. The session covered not only the key trends, figures and recommendations related to citizen science in Belgium, but also the story behind the citizen science scan itself. Anyone who would like to receive a printed copy of the report can indicate this in the form below, until 13 April 2026.

This online workshop on 1 April 2026 introduces participants to citizen science methodology and the potential of citizen‑generated data. The session covers motivations, project types, strengths and limitations of citizen‑generated data, and presents open tools for data collection and analysis.

From 3 to 6 March 2026, the European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) Conference will take place in Oulu, Finland. Once again, Scivil and CS-NL are bringing together Belgian and Dutch citizen science professionals for an informal networking evening.
